A great chance for self-publishers and publishers alike is to attach metadata to a new book is through BowkerLink, and it’s incredibly important to use it.  You may know Bowker from ordering your ISBN numbers in the U.S., but they are also the provider for “Books In Print” and “Global Books In Print” which contain listings of bibliographical information for international titles available in the USA or internationally.

In addition, Bowker sells its products worldwide to retailers and libraries, so your titles are exposed to many facets of the book industry through a single web application including other Bowker products like inventory status checks, library catalog information, and sales data reporting services. Black Lawrence Immigrant Writing Series

Open to any individual living in the U.S. who identifies as an immigrant and who either was born in another country, or has at least one parent who was born in another country, or is a refugee, or lives in the U.S. under Asylum or a Protection Program, such as TPS or DACA. Genre: Books of poetry, prose (fiction or nonfiction), and hybrid texts of poetry and prose.  Payment: In addition to publication, marketing, and a standard royalties contract from Black Lawrence Press, authors chosen will receive a travel stipend of $500, which can be used for book tours or in any manner.   Deadline: October 31.

If you are a writer, publisher, or visual artist, Access Copyright is an organization that believes that you should be fairly compensated when your works are copied. By becoming an affiliate of Access Copyright, you will have access to services that will help maximize royalty income for the secondary use of your works - all for free.


Benefits of being an Access Copyright Affiliate:

  • Royalty Payments: They ensure our affiliates are fairly compensated.
  • Affiliate Outreach: They make sure the interests of their affiliates are heard by policy and decision-makers on important issues, such as intellectual property.

Open to visual artists, writers, dancers, musicians, ceramicists, chefs, scientists, arts & culture administrators - creative thinkers of all kinds for two- to eight-week self-directed residencies. Located on 600 acres in the north Georgia mountains, each resident is awarded a private studio & living space, with no responsibilities except attending communal dinners four nights a week.  Apply by Sept 15 for the Spring 2025 Residency Session (mid-February through May).

Cullman Center Fellowship 

The Cullman Center’s Selection Committee awards up to 15 fellowships a year to outstanding scholars and writers—academics, independent scholars, journalists, and creative writers.
