V.S. Pritchett Short Story Prize      

Offers 50 free entries to low-income writers based in the UK. The author of the winning entry will be awarded a prize of £1,000 and have their story published in Prospect magazine online and in the RSL. Entrants must be resident in the UK, Republic of Ireland or Commonwealth. Stories must be between 2,000 and 4,000 words.

Marlowe and Christie Novel Prize

Submit the opening 3000 words of your novel. Conventionally published novelists are not eligible to enter. First Price: £1,100. Shortlisted Entries: The ten shortlisted entries will receive written feedback from Patrick Gleeson. All entries must be written in English.

The Deadlands 

Fiction, nonfiction. "The Deadlands exists in liminal spaces between life, death, and elsewhere. We are looking for fiction that concerns itself with death—but also everything death may involve." Payment $100 per essay, 10 cents/word for fiction.

Hambidge Residency

Open to visual artists, writers, dancers, musicians, ceramicists, chefs, scientists, arts & culture administrators - creative thinkers of all kinds for two- to eight-week self-directed residencies. Located on 600 acres in the north Georgia mountains, each resident is awarded a private studio & living space, with no responsibilities except attending communal dinners four nights a week.  Apply by Sept 15 for the Spring 2025 Residency Session (mid-February through May).

Cullman Center Fellowship 

The Cullman Center’s Selection Committee awards up to 15 fellowships a year to outstanding scholars and writers—academics, independent scholars, journalists, and creative writers. Foreign nationals conversant in English are welcome to apply. A stipend of up to $70,000, an office, a computer, and full access to the Library's physical and electronic resources.
