Open Letter to Brian Niccol, Starbuck's CEO

Starbucks, Barrhaven, ON

"My focus for the first 100 days is clear. I’ll spend time in our stores."

Yes, please, spend time in the Starbucks Cafe in Barrhaven, Ontario. And then hire cleaning staff for all of the Starbucks coffee shops, including the franchises!

Dear Mr. Niccol:

As a frequent traveller, I have been in hundreds (if not thousands) of Starbucks places in all of North America (excluding Alaska) during the last twenty years. And complained constantly about the often disgusting dirty places. Almost always I have to ask your staff to clean the table before sitting down and having my coffee and cake.

Why would a coffee chain that makes billions a year and talks about "customer experience" not be able and willing to hire cleaning staff is beyond me.  It is not that you cannot afford it, it is about your GREED !!!

Prices in the stores are now at an absolute premium, so there must be enough money made not only to pay your outrageous yearly salary, but also to hire cleaning staff!

The overworked baristas just don't have the time to constantly clean up, and it is not their job.  Or have you ever seen a chef who stops cooking/preparing food, and goes out onto the restaurant floor or the restrooms and starts cleaning?

It would be a shame to charge customers your over-priced drinks in the future, and not give them a clean place to enjoy what they ordered. I hope you will run this company better in the future, and not have only your shareholders, but also your customers in mind!

BTW:  Just as I decided to send you this open letter, I found for the first time in twenty years a CLEAN Starbucks coffee shop with super-friendly staff:

In Montreal, Canada, 5395 Queen Mary St.

And while we are at it:
Can you please stop harassing your customers with this horrible noise in

Starbucks' coffee shops?  I go to a club at night if I want to hear loud techno. But if I want to have my morning java, I would like to hear soothing sounds and not be pestered with hard rock.  As most of your customers are not of teenage age, please choose the music and its volume accordingly.  Thanks.
